Who is Lex Art?
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, picking up a pencil around the age of six or seven. What started as a simple hobby in my early years quickly became a personal outlet for creativity, but for much of my youth, my focus shifted toward football. The sport consumed most of my energy and attention, and art took a backseat. I was determined to pursue football, and it was the driving force in my life until a life-changing injury at the age of 23.
In a pivotal moment, I broke my leg, an incident that forced me to slow down and reevaluate my passions. With time on my hands and physical activity off the table, I found myself reconnecting with the art I had left behind. The stillness gave me the space to rediscover my love for drawing, and what began as a way to fill time quickly became my passion again.
Since that turning point, my art has been an exploration of human essence. I strive to capture not just the physical likeness of those I draw, but the spirit, the raw emotions, and the stories that lie beneath the surface. My work is rooted in a deep curiosity about the people I portray, trying to reach beyond the surface to truly represent their essence. It's a process of immersion, dipping into their soul and expressing that in every stroke of the pencil or brush.
In the years following my injury, I’ve held two solo exhibitions, both of which were incredibly meaningful milestones in my artistic journey. These exhibitions allowed me to share my vision with the world and connect with people who see something of themselves in my work.
My ethos as an artist is about more than just technique. It’s about peeling back the layers of identity and finding what lies beneath. My goal is to create art that resonates on a deeper level, making the viewer pause and reflect on what it means to truly know another person.
Today, art is no longer a hobby, it's the heart of who I am.
